In 1929 the Veterinary Institute was founded to train veterinarians, zoosensors of a wide profile with
a specialization in karakul breeding, poultry farming, horse breeding and other specialties. Alma-Ata
Zoo Veterinary Institute is the first agricultural and second higher educational institution in
Kazakhstan. It was located in the building of the former Vernensky male gymnasium (now Aiteke bi, 28).
The Veterinary Faculty became the basic subdivision of the Institute, which included the following
departments: zoology, botany, physics and mathematics, inorganic and analytical chemistry, physiology
of farm animals. Scientists have made an invaluable contribution to the organization of the
departments: Professor I.V. Sikovich (microbiology), Professor I.G. Vasilkov (botany), Professor V.V.
Averburg (histology and embryology), Professor B.A. Dombrowski (anatomy), pupil of academician I.P.
Pavlova, Professor M.P. Kalmykov (the physiology of animals), arrived with a group of teachers
from Kiev, invited from Omsk Professor NL Karavaev (inorganic and analytical chemistry),
Professor V.A. Claire (zoology), Professor V.V. Kellerman (physics and mathematics) and many
others. Soon the school was reorganized into the Veterinary and Zootechnical Institute, in 1933
it was renamed the Alma-Ata Zoo Veterinary Institute. During the Great Patriotic War, 206 students
and employees of the Institute volunteered for the front. Titles of the Hero of the Soviet Union
were awarded to one of the 28 Panfilov guardsmen, A. Kosayev, an institute employee, and
E.Nietkaliev, a graduate of the Institute. In 1979, AZVI was awarded the Order of the Red Banner
of Labor. In 1981 - 1982, the institute trained more than 5 thousand students, 314 teachers
worked, 20 of them professors and doctors of sciences, 170 associate professors and candidates
of sciences.

The Kazakh Agricultural Institute
In 1930, the Kazakh Agricultural Institute (KazAI) was founded in Almaty. Initially, the Institute had 2 faculties (cereals and industrial crops), 11 departments, which studied 131 student, the 42 instructor employed. The first edition was held in 1933 - higher education received 78 people (including 20 Kazakhs), of which 51 and 27 fruit-and-vegetable grower agronomist. A great contribution to the formation and subsequent development of the Institute was made by its leaders: directors are O.K. Zhandosov (1930-1932), Kh. D. Churin (1932-1937), N.M. Beketov (1937-1939), S.S. Syzdykov (1939-1940), A.I.Sembaev (1940-1941), D.A. Andriyanov (1941-1943), A. Zhumatov (1943-1959), A.I. Dorofeev (1960-1961), E.B. Taybekov (1961-1963) and the rectors are Kh.A. Arystanbekov (1963-1981), T.T. Tazabekov (1981-1985), B.P. Shah (1985-1992) and E. Zh. Zhumabekov (1992-1996). KazAI was one of the largest and leading agricultural universities in the USSR. In this great merit of the whole faculty. Particular mention should be made of the merits of academicians are R.A. In 2014-2015 academic year KazNAU ranked fourth among the 13 technical universities of the country in the rating of Kazakhstan universities, annually conducted by the Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance. According to the rating of the Independent Accreditation and Rating Agency, the university entered the top 30 leaders-universities of RK and took 11th place. History of KazNAU
Kazakh National Agrarian University, established in 1996 on the basis of two oldest universities - The Alma-Ata Zoo Veterinary (1929) and The Kazakh Agricultural Institute (1930).
In 2001, it was given the status of National. Over six thousand students in 38 agricultural specialties study at six faculties (crop production technologies, production and processing of livestock production, veterinary medicine, forestry, land and water resources, economics and law, engineering). There is a military department, after graduation, the military rank of lieutenant is conferred.
The university has a good material and technical base, equipped with modern equipment, educational buildings, a scientific library with a rich book fund. The buildings of the university are located on abai ave., both are listed in the state list of monuments of history and architecture. One of the educational buildings at the address: abai ave., 8 (formerly kazakh agricultural institute) was built in 1954 by the architect's project.

About the museum:
The Museum of the Kazakh National Agrarian University is a structural subdivision of the university. The Museum of KazNAU was established in 1996 after the unification of the Almaty Zoo veterinary and Kazakh agricultural institutes. In 2005, in connection with the expansion of the exposition areas, the museum was re-equipped and a new museum exposition was opened. The grand opening of the museum took place in 2005 on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the university.
The University Museum is located in the pavilion of the third floor of the main educational building and includes 3 halls and 2 rooms, where the relevant exhibits are placed in 8 sections. The total area of the museum is - 379.3 sq.m.
The basis of the museum is working with students, familiarizing it with the history of the university, teaching and educational and scientific activities of outstanding educators-scientists of world renown, as well as organizing work on the patriotic and ideological-spiritual upbringing of the youth.
The museum collects, stores, examines and exhibits material, written, pictorial sources as well as film and photo sources that reflect the history of the university from the day it was founded to the present. The museum keeps a memory of outstanding personalities of the university - teachers, employees, students, graduates, as well as documents about their scientific, educational, social and cultural activities.
The exposition of the history museum consists of several thematic sections, such as the Institute of the Rector's Office, the Kaleptasu Kesezi, the Sokhs zhyldary, The Formation Period, the Yerkendeu Kesezy, Veterans of the University, Yerlikke Tazym, Life of the Collective , "Sports achivments". The stands and showcases of the museum carefully store documents and photographs of rectors, the first students and teachers, the works of scientists of the two institutions. Also, the museum keeps diplomas, scientific works, educational and methodical aids, awards, personal belongings and memoirs of outstanding university employees. One of the showcases exhibits a unique collection of awards won by student athletes, student sports teams. This collection of cups, pennants, letters is a clear indication of the sports achievements and traditions of the university. The main objective of the museum:
To popularize the history of the university with the purpose of professional orientation of youth, education of patriotism on the materials of historical documents and exhibits that are in the museum.
Various forms of educational work are used in the work with student youth, forming a system for the formation of university traditions: youth actions, seminars, meetings, discussions, round tables, meetings with alumni and veterans of the university,
competitions, traditional tours of freshmen to the KazNAU museum, the "Taza El" museum. On the second floor of the main building is opened the gallery "Heroes of Socialist Labor", who graduated from our university.

Romanyutin Alexander Ivanovich
Alexander Romanyutin was born in 1924 in the village of Georgievka, Kurdai district, Dzhambul region. Shortly before the Great Patriotic War he graduated from high school in the working village of Kant of the Kirghiz SSR. In September 1942, he was drafted into the Red Army. For steadfastness and courage shown in battles on the right bank of the Dnieper, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR Union of February 9, 1944, Alexander Ivanovich Romanyutin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Kosayev Alikbay was born in 1905. in Enbekshikazakh district of Almaty region. Since 1938. before the call to the Sov. The army worked as a hospital attendant at the surgical clinic of AZI. July 18, 1941 was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army and sent to the rank of 316 rifle division. General Panfilov. Yerdenbek Netkaliyev
Yerdenbek Netkaliev was born in 1914 in the village of Kymystyk in the Dzhanibek district of the Ural region in the family of a poor peasant, a Kazakh, a member of the CPSU. In 1936 he graduated from the Alma-Ata Zoo Veterinary Institute and for several years, before the war against Nazi Germany, he worked in the Kyzyl-Orda region as the head of the school part of the school of livestock, a teacher in an agricultural technical school, an inspector of the regional executive committee. At the front from the first days of the war. With fights came to Berlin. 31th January 1945, the 12th Guards Red Banner Cavalry Regiment received the task to prevent the breakthrough of the Hitlerites from the encirclement. The squadron of Netkaliyev was defended by one of the most important sectors-the Rarceburg highway. Within two days, guardsmen destroyed over 200 German soldiers and officers, but the squadron suffered heavy losses. The German command after the grouping of forces, began a new offensive on the squadron. An unequal battle broke out, and a handful of fighters remained. Yerdenbek Netkaliev ordered to prepare grenades, and he himself went to the machine gun. He was severely wounded again, but until the last breath he continued to smash the enemy and died as a hero. The squadron of Netkaliyev fulfilled the task with honor. On the battlefield, 400 German soldiers and officers were killed, three heavy guns, six heavy machine guns were destroyed and 80 soldiers and officers were taken prisoner. For courage and valor Erdenbeku Netkaliev March 24, 1945 posthumously awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union.
